Sony A7R VI with VG-G6 Vertical Grip and Spare NP-SA100 Battery

The Sony a7R VI pushes the boundaries of what an R-series camera can deliver by combining extremely high resolution with exceptional performance speed. It is designed as a hybrid solution for professionals working across multiple genres, including portrait, landscape, wildlife, sports, editorial, advertising, commercial photography, and event videography. With its blend of high-resolution imaging, fast burst shooting, and advanced video capability, it is positioned as an all-in-one tool for demanding creators who need flexibility without compromise.

66.8MP Sensor and Advanced Image Quality

At its core, the camera features a newly developed 66.8MP Exmor RS full-frame stacked BSI CMOS sensor, the highest resolution sensor ever used in an a7 body. The stacked design enables readout speeds up to 5.6 times faster than previous generations, improving responsiveness and reducing distortion. Image quality benefits from improved clarity, reduced shadow noise, and a wide 16-stop dynamic range. It supports 14-bit high-resolution stills with a native ISO range of 100 to 32000, expandable from ISO 50 to 102400, making it suitable for both high-contrast scenes and low-light environments.

Processing Power and High-Speed Capture

A new BIONZ XR2 processor with an integrated AI unit drives significantly improved performance, enabling faster overall processing, more efficient noise handling, and better subject recognition. Continuous shooting reaches up to 30 frames per second with full AF and AE tracking. For fast-moving subjects, Pre-Capture mode records images up to one second before the shutter is fully pressed, while Speed Boost allows instant switching to higher burst rates. These features make it highly effective for unpredictable action such as wildlife and sports photography.

AI Autofocus and Intelligent Tracking

The autofocus system has been significantly upgraded with AI-based Real-time Recognition AF+, offering improved stability and accuracy even with distant or partially obscured subjects. It supports multiple subject types, including humans, animals, birds, insects, vehicles, trains, and aircraft. Human pose estimation enhances portrait precision, while real-time tracking ensures consistent focus during complex movement. A dense 759-point phase-detection system covers up to 94 percent of the frame, enabling reliable focusing in low light down to -6 EV, with full AF tracking maintained even at 30 fps burst speeds.

Stabilisation and Computational Imaging Tools

The in-body image stabilisation system delivers up to 8.5 stops of compensation at the centre and up to 7 stops at the edges, using a 5-axis gyro-based system for precise shake control. For video, Active IS improves stability during handheld shooting. The camera also includes Pixel Shift Multi Shooting, which combines up to 16 exposures to produce approximately 265.8MP equivalent files with enhanced colour accuracy and detail. Additional multi-frame HDR and noise reduction modes further expand dynamic range and image cleanliness.

Video Capability, Design, and Connectivity

Video performance includes 8K recording at 30p and 24p, along with 4K up to 120p using full pixel readout and oversampling for higher detail. Professional features such as S-Cinetone, S-Log2 and S-Log3, LUT support, and ProRes RAW output provide extensive grading flexibility. The body features a 9.44-million-dot EVF, a 4-axis multi-angle LCD, magnesium alloy construction, improved weather sealing, and dual USB-C ports. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, wired LAN support via adapter, and livestreaming capability. Audio is enhanced with support for 4-channel 32-bit float recording via an optional XLR adapter, making it a fully featured professional hybrid system.

Sony VG-G6 Vertical Grip for Sony A7R VI Mirrorless Camera

Dedicated to the Sony a7R VI mirrorless camera, the VG-C6 Vertical Grip offers both extended battery and a more comfortable grip when shooting in the vertical orientation. The grip accepts either one or two NP-SA100 batteries to increase the effective battery life for longer shooting sessions, and the batteries can be charged in the grip while attached to the camera via the body's USB port. Compared to previous-generation vertical grips, the VG-C6 also has refined circuitry that supports parallel power supply to provide even longer effective operation times and and the remaining battery life for both batteries can be indicated on the camera display.

The grip's design maintains the same layout as the camera body itself, and includes a secondary shutter button and Multi-Selector for intuitive use. The grip is built from magnesium alloy and is dust and moisture resistant to match the weather-sealing of the camera itself.

Sony NP-SA100 Battery

Dedicated to select Sony cameras, the NP-SA100 Battery is a 2670 mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery. This high-capacity battery can be charged inside compatible cameras or is compatible with the BC-SAD1 Battery Charger. Also, it supports Sony's Battery Health Check system, which is visible on a camera's monitor, to avoid unexpected battery issues and identify the right time to replace.
